![]() It feels like all the worst internet 9-gag memes pasted together. However, this movie is like an unfunny 5 second joke prolonged for 2 hours. ![]() ![]() Which at worst consist of a 30 second joke prolonged for 5 minutes. And while yes, there are great parody-sketches, I'm obviously complaining because the movie feels like the worst kind of parody-sketch. It feels more like a Saturday Night Live promotional-parody-sketch than an actual movie. This movie jumps the shark at every chance, so much in fact. Thor Ragnarok turns every character into a cartoon over-the-top parody of it's former self. Have you ever heard the slang "jumping the shark"? Is a slang used to describe a plotlines, that somehow are too stupid to be believable. Is it worth seeing? No, I'll explain my opinion. Is one of the worst things the genre has to offer. That tracends into one of the worst superhero movies, while also one of the worsi comic-book movies ever. Is one I'll explain more detailed below, but keeping it in short words, Thor Ragnarok is not only one of the worst MCU movies, but it tracends beyond into one of the worst Marvel movies. I'll explain more detailed below, but keeping it in short words, Thor Ragnarok is not only one of the worst MCU movies, but it tracends beyond into one of the worst Marvel movies. Still, it's more fun than most of the MCU. There wasn't really enough memorable plot or character development going on here for me to want to see it again, and some moments were just cringe. There's more than enough twinkle and eye-candy to make this a worthwhile watch for superhero movie fans, but for me this is a one and done. Valkyrie as well feels a bit tossed in, and apparently alcoholism is a joke to the writers of this film, as it's played up for laughs with this character but never shown to be a mistake or problem for the character like it is for Tony Stark in Iron Man 2. Hela, the new villain and Thor and Loki's sister, is such a throwaway "crazy lady" villain that she could have easily been Cruella de Ville or any number of other movie villains, and there was no meaningful implementation of the fact that she's their sister. Thor doesn't seem to go through any meaningful experiences to build character, just some Mufasa-esque "remember who you are" mysticism that makes everything okay in the end. The film is so nutty and all over the place that the overall plot doesn't feel very coherent or meaningful. I felt more engaged and entertained while watching it than I do with most Marvel films, but in retrospect the experience feels a bit empty. ![]() This is one of the flashiest, most eye-popping, and humorous MCU films, at times garishly bordering on decadence.
